Our sessions have been designed to maintain social distancing and adhere to COVID 19 guidance. Examples of the varied sessions are as follows;

As a learner on our programme, we will meet with you to check your eligible for the programme and will go through an individual action plan to establish your goals, identify any barriers and then enrol you on to one of our courses. We will support you throughout your training with us and look at options linking with other training provides (e.g. for qualifications including CSCS and ROLO), volunteering placements and employers.
We will be hosting pop up taster sessions in August in visible locations in the community to raise awareness of the project. Come along and try a range of activities including circus skills, build a bug hotel, and planting something to take home.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Our Circus School, Circo Kernow, was established in 2002 as an educational project designed to support and provide alternative accredited qualifications for young people aged 12 years and older. We believe that circus offers a creative path to improving physical and mental health as well as boosting self-confidence and self esteem. As a training provider we work with specialist partners to ensure our students have the life skills, experience and confidence to progress into either further education or employment. Our results demonstrate strong progression into both further education and employment, particularly in the performing arts, film, tourism and leisure industries.
The circus school runs weekly on a Tuesday and students are expected to be in attendance between 10am-3pm.
Warm-up starts at 10am and is a very important start to training, training sessions run throughout the day with a 30 minute break for lunch; the final session finishes at 3pm.
Thanks to generous Comic Relief funding all training costs are subsidised, running at only £10 a day and is free to those over 16 years who are not in education employment or training (NEET) *providing eligible criteria is met. All moderation fees will be covered by the circus school.
All students will be expected to work towards an accredited qualification whilst they are training. We currently offer an Entry Level 3, Level 1 andLevel 2 NCFE (National Certificate in Further Education) in Performance Skills which are specifically designed to engage our students and encourage progression if they choose to continue training. The Entry Level course has a minimum attendance requirement of 30 Guided Learning Hours to complete and the Level 1 and 2 requiring 120 GLH. Our teaching terms run for approximately 12 weeks and included a dedicated amount of work experience and participation in a public performance as an integral part of their coursework.
The courses are mainly focused on learning new skills and working towards production and performance in front of an audience. There will be a small requirement of written work; however a significant proportion of the course can be evidenced by filming training sessions and group discussions. Students will be fully supported by a dedicated Education Officer but will be expected to be responsible for their own work folders.
