THE CHYAN PLEN PROJECT

Are you over 15 and unemployed? Would you like to gain some skills for free?

We are offering short courses (non-accredited, but with a certificate of completion) and Level 1 BTEC Awards in the areas of Land-Based Studies and Performing Arts with the aim of linking people to local opportunities including volunteering, work placements and jobs.

Our sessions have been designed to adhere to COVID 19 guidance. Examples of the varied sessions are as follows;

Horticulture –  Flower/herbs/vegetable container gardening, plant propagation, seasonal planting. Workshops using produce including chutney, jam, fruit vinegars, herb oil workshops and vegetable cake baking. Coppicing history and practical skills.

Performing Arts – Circus skills circuits, working in the performing arts, performance skills, Hula Hooping, dance & yoga to get people active and having fun.

As a learner on our programme, we will meet with you to check your eligible for the programme and will go through an individual action plan to establish your goals, identify any barriers and then enrol  you on to one of our courses. We will support you throughout your training with us and look at options linking with other training provides (e.g. for qualifications including CSCS and ROLO), volunteering placements and employers.

6 week – Short courses are in the pipeline and are likely to be active in September 2022!

BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Performing Arts

Awarding Body: Pearson Edexcel

The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Performing Arts is primarily for all learners who want to continue their education and develop their skills for progression to further learning and, ultimately, to employment.
The Award is designed for learners who may want to study a sector unit and plan their next steps by completing the Developing a Personal Progression Plan unit.
These qualifications prepare learners for further learning at a higher level in performing arts. The development of transferable skills means that learners can also choose a study programme from alternative sectors. For example, these qualifications in Performing Arts could lead to Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualifications in this sector, or to Level 2 qualifications in other sectors.


Total Qualification time: 75 hours // Guided learning time: 70 hours (Over a 11 week period – incl. half term break)

Cost: For those that are not eligible for free places on the course the cost stands at £245
**This includes registration, course materials which are provided and exam costs!

Unit PA12 – Rehearsing for a performance:
In this unit you will:
A) Plan a rehearsal process for a performance
B) Work with others to rehearse and perform.

BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Land Based Studies (Horticulture)

Awarding Body: Pearson Edexcel

The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award, Certificate and Diploma in Land-based Studies are primarily for all learners who want to continue their education and develop their skills for progression to further learning and, ultimately, to employment. The Award is suitable for learners studying part time or for those who wish to study a vocational qualification alongside other qualifications and activities as part of their study programme.
This prepares learners for further learning at a higher level in land-based studies. The development of transferable skills means that learners can also choose a study programme from alternative sectors. For example, these qualifications in land-based studies could lead to Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualifications in this sector, or to Level 2 qualifications in other sectors.

In this unit you will:
A) Explore the factors and requirements to successfully propagate and establish young plants.
B) Carry out the propagation and establishment of young plants, demonstrating a consideration of environmental conditions
